Springtime? Michigan Walk4Hearing Time!

BETHESDA, Md. – The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) invites you to join us for the annual Michigan Walk4Hearing, now celebrating its thirteenth year. Take a walk with us and meet our passionate regulars, enthusiastic newcomers, loyal team captains, and all people at various stages of their hearing journey. Come on over to the beautiful Kensington Metro Park on Saturday, May 18 for a day of fun, friendship, awareness, education, and community support.
A goal of the 2018 Walk4Hearing was to promote the importance of better hearing health and the value of regular hearing screenings, providing this service for free at multiple Walk locations. Dustin Letherman, a participant last year, regarded the screening as a “great experience” and stated, “I work in a fabrication shop and it was great to have this service provided to ensure that I was protecting my hearing. It set my mind at ease!”
Dustin was just one of nearly 400 people who took advantage of this opportunity, and now you can do the same. Thanks to the generosity of the Central Michigan University, a free hearing screening van will be present at the Walk this year.
The Walk4Hearing raises awareness for a condition often regarded as invisible. Since its inception in 2006, nearly 100,000 people and 8,300 teams have walked down city streets and through parks cheering and holding banners while wearing team t-shirts. Participants invite family, friends, and colleagues to walk with them as a show of support. With a community like this, hearing loss will no longer be invisible.
The success and expansion of the Walk4Hearing is made possible in part by companies committed to supporting those with hearing loss. Sponsors engage their company by forming teams, holding fundraisers, and showing their corporate spirit. HLAA recognizes those sponsors who have joined the
